A Compassionate Adventure to Uganda: Making a Difference One Smile and Seed at a Time

Hello, friends!

I am incredibly excited to share with you some details of an upcoming life-changing journey my daughter, Lena, and I will embark on from late June into July. As the Executive Director of Agri Planet Africa, I have had the privilege of working on numerous initiatives that promote sustainable development and empower communities. This summer, we are teaming up with Love Africa to bring about positive change in Uganda.

Here are a few initiatives we will focus on during this trip:

  1. Oral Hygiene Education for Refugee Children: We believe that every child deserves a healthy smile. That’s why we will be working with local schools and communities to teach refugee children about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. We’ll be distributing toothbrushes and other dental care supplies, so if you would like to contribute, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
  2. Assisting Smallholder Farmers: Hosted by Agri Planet Africa, we’ll be lending a helping hand to smallholder farmers by sharing our knowledge and expertise. We’ll also be hosting a course for local farmers to learn about sustainable agricultural practices and selling their produce, enabling them to improve their livelihoods and support their families.
  3. Supporting Love Africa Initiatives for Young Refugees: We are thrilled to support Love Africa’s efforts to help 33 young refugees who are on the verge of interviewing for a chance to enter university. Education is a vital tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and we are honored to play a role in these young people’s journey towards a brighter future.

In addition to these hands-on initiatives, we are raising funds for a separate cause that is close to our hearts. Many refugee children have been displaced due to war, losing their parents and finding refuge in forests. Our goal is to raise money to provide them with safe shelter, food, and clothing. Your support would mean the world to us and these vulnerable children. Please consider a tax-deductible donation through the following links: Lena’s Link and My Link.

I have personally funded our trip expenses, which have exceeded $6,000; in addition, we will bring supplies and coordinate volunteers from Love Africa to assist with Agri Planet Africa efforts. We are not traveling to preach the gospel but to help people help themselves while offering a compassionate hand to those who live a life we know nothing of.

As practicing Buddhists, Lena and I believe in the power of love, compassion, and doing good for our fellow humans. We hope to not only help, but learn from this experience and come back with a changed worldview and new friends.

If you would like to support our efforts in any way, please consider donating to the links above or contact me for additional ideas. We cannot do this alone, and we firmly believe that we all have a part to play in making this world a better place.

Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. We can’t wait to share our experiences with you upon our return!

With love and gratitude,
Janelle Nightingale
