On the Beaten Path. Summer Fun in Oklahoma.

There are quite a few things to do in Oklahoma that are family friendly, fun and will make good memories. In Oklahoma, we have 10 distinct ecological regions. Some of those regions include arid plains to mountains and subtropical forests, so there are plenty of activities to be found in Oklahoma on the beaten path, or even off the beaten path.

Fleeting Desires – Freedom is the Final Destination

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.”

Lake Hefner Lighthouse

Lake Hefner lighthouse is located on the eastern shore of the lake, just off Lake Hefner Parkway in Oklahoma City. It was prefabricated and erected by a “tilt-up” technique, for which it apparently won an award. It is also a great spot for taking pictures with a unique backdrop!

Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is fantastic! So beautiful, and even though just about everything was frozen, I still enjoyed the view and fresh air. It was late March in 2014 and I flew from Oklahoma City to Chicago to Buffalo, NY, and from there drove accords the boarder to Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada. It was just a 2 day business trip to attend a conference for my company, but I am glad I had the opportunity to go.

An Oklahoma Spring: May 2015

I don’t think you will hear many Oklahoma residents say they look forward to Spring. If they do, it is solely for the facts that winter will be over and gardeners get to plant. Along with nicer weather and lush greenery coming back to the earth, Spring in Oklahoma means tornado season. Some years are worse than others, but it is a toss up no matter how you look at it.

Weekend Getaway to Galveston, Texas

Sometimes you just need to get away. Get away from the grind of work and your every day mundane life that, after time, seems to suck all the energy right out of you. Maybe it’s just me, but I doubt it. Taking the kids to and from school, after school activities, the office, sitting at a desk in front of one or more computer monitors day in and day out – adulting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and sometimes on the weekend when you just can’t seem to catch up. Sound familiar? Continue reading “Weekend Getaway to Galveston, Texas” →

Finding Romance in Macedonia, A European American Love Story

“Travel is like love, mostly because it’s a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.”

While working freelance online, I met a few foreigners and made some new friends. During that time In 2011 I met a nice guy from Macedonia. With no intentions of online dating, we continued talking and getting to know one another without putting our best foot forward. Just chatting it up with no walls. As time, and our relationship progressed we decided I would make a trip to the little southeastern European country, Macedonia.
