Janelle Nightingale
Hello, welcome to my extraordinary world! I’m the daring adventurer who nearly danced with lightning en route to Canada and shared veggie wisdom that ended up quoted on local news. An enthusiast of kayaking, hiking, and captivating tales, my life is a thrilling ride of unforgettable experiences.
I plunged into the military at 17 and became a Public Affairs professional soon after. By 18, I was sleuthing as a private investigator, and by 22, I was navigating digital marketing in Eastern Europe. From scaling mountains in Taiwan, being applauded by 14,000 people, running half marathons, learning a new language, raising $34,000 in four days for an MMA fighter, and connecting celebrities for interviews—I’ve worn many hats, all while pursuing education and full-time work.
Currently, I’m serving as a driving force for Agri Planet Africa, an agricultural NGO in Uganda, alongside my role as Communications Manager at a commercial roofing company. I’ve also recently proudly earned my master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. While I might not be ascending physical peaks as often these days, I am shifting mountains in my roles.
My blog, “108 Klicks Around The World”, represents my journeys and the insights I’ve gathered. The title marries Buddhist philosophy and military language, with 108 symbolizing the pursuit of enlightenment and ‘klicks’—a term for kilometers—honoring my military past. Together, they encompass my mission: to explore, enlighten, and empower.
Balancing all this while raising my child as a single mother, I aim to lead with empathy and passion, inspiring young minds, entrepreneurs, and agents of change to voice their beliefs, show heart, and take action for a better world. As one, we’re a formidable force. Read posts by Janelle…
